Tiny Toys for the Big Boys

From their recent trip to Australia, our neighbors upstairs, Abet and Benz Rana,
gave us these tiny vespa riders :)

Aren’t they the cutest?!!:)

I know I probably shouldn’t have removed them from their case but I wanted to put them
somewhere in the house.

With the help of my Blu tack (actually Black Tack. hehehe) . . . . .

. . . . . I found the perfect spot in the hall near our front door.

Here’s what they look like all together:

They’re on their way out our front door ’cause they’re running away from:

You can almost hear that rider screaming no? BWAHAHAHAH (sinister laugh) . . .

A Musuem of Miniatures in the Philippines :)

This afternoon, Jude sent me a link to Aleli Vengua’s Museum of Minatures fb page. I love miniatures
so I checked it out. I know how fun it is to make miniatures so I totally understand Aleli’s passion :)

But I can’t imagine making a collection as extensive as the one she’s done.

In her lifetime, she has created over 60,000 miniatures!

Here are some photos from her museum (all photos from Aleli Vengua’s fb page):

A tiny dining room. Top view

And side view

Aren’t those just the cutest tools?!?!!

A music room?

An old livign room. You can see how tiny this is by the size
of the reflection of the person taking the photo :)

house of a seamstress

Are those tiny vegetables? :)

A nursery complete with tiny high chair and toy train . Cute!

string instrument collection

Hats on tiny hat stands :)

Reg, you need a display cabinet like this :)

I can imagine myself spending hours in this room . . .

Aleli’s miniature collection had been on display in her home ’till she died in 2004. :(
Sayang. I would have loved to meet such an interesting person.

Sadly, the collection isn’t open for public viewing now and Aleli’s daughter, Lara, is trying to find a new home for it. Go Lara! :) I want to show this to my kids na!

Wouldn’t it be perfect for Museo Pambata though? Hmmmm. . .

Check out more photos on Aleli Vengua’s fb page

Because I Still Have a Lot of Wood Left . . .

I enjoyed making the tiny pencil for Reg, so I decided to make some more.

They’re a bit bigger than the one I made for Reg but the quality of these are better na.
I used sandpaper to smoothen the sides and I painted varnished on them so they’re
shiny now :)

I reserved one for my brother RJ already. I just have to buy a tiny bottle to put it in
.
The others I might give as gifts to friends or I could try selling them to tiny, little
people I might meet :)
hehehe

I’m thinking of using up the rest of the wood (around 2 meters) to make even more
pencils because, well, I enjoy the process. (yep, I’m weird like that)

Anyway, we’ll see what happens :)

Dolls, Cookies and a Bible :)

Today we got some super cute gifts from my dad’s sister from the States.

My aunt always reads my posts, so I guess this is why Reg got this tiny bible :)

Isn’t it the cutest?!?! The tiny book is an actual bible that starts with the New Testament :)

My kids got American Girl dolls :)

Even Noah has his own doll :) hehehe.

I remember seeing a documentary about American Girl dolls before
but I’ve never actually seen the actual doll till now ;)

We also got Girl Scout cookies from my niece which was pretty cool ’cause
I’ve always wondered what they’re cookies taste like and ’cause
I love their logo ;)

I have to say, I didn’t know that they had actual boxed cookies na. I always thought that
the Girl Scouts actually made the cookies themselves, but I guess they don’t do that anymore :)

For these and the other super nice things, thank you Auntie Ne! See you on Saturday :)

Guess what I Made the Other Day?!?!?!

Ever since my other post (cute and creative) about the miniature objects
I’ve been obsessing on making miniatures of my own :)

So I asked my cousin Berly to buy me some balsa wood from this arts
and crafts store I used to go in UST
. (Yay Joli’s)

Last Friday I finally got the wood! Yay! You’re the best Berl’s ;)

So here’s the step by step procedure of how to make a tiny pencil:

1. Cut a small piece of board then half in two. Slice a thin space in the middle to hold a
mechanical pencil lead

2. Place the lead in the middle and glue the two pieces of wood together. I used white glue

3. Shave down with a cutter until it looks like a pencil :)

4. Copy the color of a big pencil

5. For the silver and eraser part I got some help from a Wrigley’s wrapper (Thanks Auntie Arlene :)

and my mom’s old eraser:

6. Put all together and voila!

I still need to paint it with a plastic coating to make it shiny but I’m happy with the result :)

Anyway, after this project, I suddenly became excited to make more miniatures!
So I chose another easy project . . .

A toilet paper roll!

Here are the steps:

1. Cut out a piece of brown thick paper into this shape:

2. Roll it into a tube and glue

3. Cut a long strip from a real tissue roll

4. Trim to the same length as the tube then roll onto the tube

5. Then trim some more and voila!

Isn’t it the cutest?

They’re now part of my sister’s collection :)

Now what to make next? . . .

The Cutest Little Things 2

Continuing from my last post of my sisters miniature collection, I realized I forgot
to take a photo of my sister’s display cabinet :) So here it is:

See. Still so much space still right? She can even add more shelves.

Anyway, she has a lot of other tiny things in a shoebox that she hasn’t put on her shelf yet.
Here are some of them:

Isn’t this the cutest little belt? It’s actually a ring :) The big belt is mine :)

These are her tiny glass animals :) She just keeps them in a cotton filled box. My kids would love these.
But we won’t be showing these to them anytime soon …. hehehe

Tiny head armor :) I think these are from Spain.

A tiny notebook. She got these two from Venice :)

A tiny phone, frog and camel :) Reg hates frogs, so I don’t know why she even has that.

I asked her what she’d do in case she lost one. She said that she probably wouldn’t even notice!!! hahaha.
I guess she’s not really that attached to them.
But I’m pretty sure she’s not giving away any of them either :)

The Cutest Little Things!

My sister has the coolest collection of miniature objects. She’s been collecting them since
we were in high school so it’s quite a lot. Good thing is they don’t take up so much space
cause they’re so tiny so she has them all in one display cabinet . . .with still some room for more :)

Here are just some of the things from her collection:

She has a regular sized mortar and pestle and a tiny one:

She sells furniture for a living so of course she has to have tiny chairs :)

Tiny perfume :)

Tiny weapons. She has more of these but these are the really cute ones:

Tiny elephants. Again she has more of these, i think almost 8 of them, but I just chose the smallest ones :)

Tiny nazars that work against the evil eye :)

A tiny BIRTHDAY candle holder. She has 3 more of these, but they’re in storage :) hehehe

A tiny grinder, microscope, viking ship and a horse :)

Even a tiny nativity scene inside a walnut shell ;)

But the cutest and smallest thing in her cabinet is this pitcher. Here beside her other tiny pitchers:

It even has a painting on it :) Isn’t it the sweetest little thing? And Reg said that it only
cost her around P6.00 when she got it in Thailand!

She has even more in a box but she’s taking a nap now so I’ll just take photos of those at another time :)
